The Great Dorset Steam fair is held each year at the end of August. It is recognised as the biggest event of its type in the world. With an average of 200,000 visitors attending each year. Located in over 600 acres of rolling Dorsetshire countryside. Held in the small village of Tarrant Hinton a few miles from the historic town of Blandford Forum. 2018 celebrated the events 50th anniversary year and many of our club members were in attendance. For more details, please see the link below. Martin Oliver has
announced that for various reasons The Great Dorset Steam Fair will not be held in 2023. It is hoped that it will return in 2024.
Several Dorset Group members have enjoyed visiting Buckham Fair in Beaminster, Dorset. The event was hosted by Martin (Doc Martin) Clunes and his team. 2017 was a record-breaking year, raising £99,000 for the Somerset and Dorset Air Ambulance. 2018 was even better when the total was a staggering £111,000 for the Dorset County Hospital Charity Appeal. Update: April 2020. Martin Clunes and his team have announced that Buckham Fair may not be returning. But he has said never say never. If I hear anything different, I will post it here.
