The Gloucestershire Vintage and Country Extravaganza
is one of the South West Group's biggest meets of the year. Held on the airfield in South Cerney. Many thousands of visitors and exhibitors alike descend upon the huge site. This year I was very fortunate to be able to attend. But, despite leaving at 2.15 pm on Friday afternoon, it still took over 4 hours to get on site. The M5 was a complete car park from Taunton right up to Bristol. After meeting with Stan at the show he says that the better route is via Warminster, Melksham, Chippenham and Malmesbury. A route that I will follow next year. Thank you, Stan. Anyway once onsite my next task was to find the Austin A30 A35 group. About 10 minutes in and I spied an Austin. This was a good start. I headed toward the group and was surprised to see not the South West Group, but Nikky Field, Nikky's partner Lincoln, John Knight, Russell Lewis and Russell's partner Claire. After getting out of the car and nearly being hugged to extinction by Nikky I was offered a space for my tent and a beer or two or three. Soon after Andy Pitcher and his brother Martin turned up and we all had a blast, listening to Russell's radio. One word of warning. If you attend the show make sure you take a strong torch. Despite the fact that we were camped no more than 100 feet away from the portaloos, after getting out of the said toilet I was completely disorientated and spent the next hour trying to find my way back. The alcohol was not in anyway responsible for me getting lost at all.......... Saturday morning and most of the group went for a full breakfast. I decided to make a start at seeing some of the exhibits.

Saturday morning. Everyone is bright eyed and bushy-tailed.

Lincoln, Andy, Russell, Martin, Nikky and Claire

Even John was ready of come out of hibernation.
